Paul has worked within the telecommunications arena for over 30 years, starting his career as an apprentice with BT, specialising within the R&D facility.
After a couple of other technology positions including commissioning many of the old Prestel computers, the forerunner of home shopping, Paul then became the Telecommunications Manager for a leading retail organisation. During his time there he successfully built voice, data and mobile networks, creating a centrally managed operation that was fundamental to the growth of the organisation. Paul identified early on his career that the secret to running a professional operation group was maintaining an efficient inventory of services whilst matching it to their Telecommunications invoices.
Over 10 years ago Paul created the Special Billing Interest Group for the CMA (www.thecma.com), with the primary aim being to raise the profile of billing across all industry sectors. This built a platform for resolving many of the billing issues that business users have been experiencing with their telecommunications suppliers. There have been many developments in that time, but the most important is the realisation that Billing, or Information Management as it is known today is strategic to the running of a successful organisation. Enabling senior management to make business decisions utilising detailed analysis of both their past usage but also trend information, this removes the estimate, or even guesstimate, approach that many organisations currently employ.
With a clear focus on Telecommunications Information Management Paul believed that companies could potentially save thousands of pounds and at the same time take back control of their relationships with their suppliers. With this wealth of experience and knowledge, Paul established a company dedicated to billing solutions through the delivery of telecoms cost management solutions, Mala Communications.
With the right IM support, Paul has demonstrated that companies could save a significant amount of time and money and regain or increase control of their telecoms spend.
